Watching another's sorrow
is - for me - more painful
than bearing one's own sadness.
If we fight the current of the flow of the river, we expend much energy. If we go with the flow of the river, we become the force of the river...

Amen Driftwood. I know this feeling very well. I grew up with seeing it in my brother, and at times I find my eldest son with that same sad look in his eyes. It takes my breath away.

When we can't 'make it better' for them all we can do is be there 'in it' by their side.
That's so true. Terry (The Road to Kingdom Come), see link on my recent post "blogger friends" had a harrowing experience. He so well describes that "sick feeling in your stomach" that you get when someone you love is depressed and struggling. ((Hugs to you))
